Role Overview:
ETL Data Architect will support the Data Manager in developing and implementing data strategies, driving analytics transformation, and ensuring the integrity and security of company data. This role is responsible for designing and managing the data flow from various sources to a data warehouse It involves designing data architecture, extracting data from different sources, transforming it into a suitable format, and loading it into a data warehouse for analysis and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL processes and data architecture to support business intelligence and reporting needs
- Extract, transform, and load data from various internal and external sources, ensuring accuracy, quality, and integrity throughout the process
- Analyse source systems and business requirements to design efficient data pipelines and long-term architecture solutions
- Collaborate with data analysts and database administrators to design data warehouse architecture, data marts, and transformation processes
- Support data migration, transformation, and modelling efforts, including work with data lakes and mining to enhance data visualisation and reporting
- Implement and refine ETL methodologies aligned with ITIL standards and organisational capabilities
- Monitor and optimise ETL performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks and managing incidents to ensure smooth data operations
- Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including data flow diagrams and process documentation, while participating in testing and validation activities
Critical Competencies for Success:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field
- Proven experience as an ETL Architect, ETL Developer, or in a similar role, with a strong background in data architecture, modelling, and ETL development
- Expertise in ETL tools and platforms, particularly Azure Data Factory (ADF), including integration with Azure SQL Database, Blob Storage, REST APIs, and on-premises systems using Integration Runtime
- Hands-on experience with SSIS and SSAS, optimising data flow and reducing system latency through robust ETL design
- Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as SQL, Python, Java, and the ability to manipulate and manage data using various tools and scripts
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve data-related issues, inconsistencies, and inefficiencies in ETL processes
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex data concepts clearly to stakeholders, team members, and clients
- Commitment to data accuracy and integrity, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., JDE) and machine learning techniques is a plus
