Role Overview
The Senior Accountant plays a critical role within the Shared Services Center (SSC), overseeing complex accounting processes and ensuring compliance with internal controls and external regulations. This role supports the delivery of high-quality, timely, and accurate financial information by coordinating period-end closings, reviewing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and supporting both internal and external audits.
Working closely with various stakeholders across the business and the finance organization, the Senior Accountant brings deep technical expertise and acts as a subject matter expert within the accounting team.
Key Responsibilities
- Process vendor invoices and ensure proper coding and matching with PO
- Process employee expenses
- Prepare and process automatic and manual payments
- Maintain vendor records and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.
- Apply customers payments and perform cash posting accurately
- Reconcile AP and AR and other subledgers with the general ledger.
- Prepare various report and analyses
- Participate in month-end closing
- Support audits by providing documentation and explanations as needed.
- Maintain compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
- Identify and implement process improvements for efficiency and accuracy.
- Support automation initiatives and system upgrades as needed.
Qualifications
- Professional experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general accounting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Knowledge of English - at least B2 level; German would be considered as asset
- Knowledge of accounting principles
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., JDE, Oracle, SAP).
- Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc.).
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective communication and problem-solving abilities; drive for improvements
